The Hammers and United will battle it out in Wednesday night's FA Cup quarter-final replay with a place in a Wembley semi-final at stake, and recent results suggest a dramatic penalty shootout could be on the cards.

What they said

Slaven Bilic: “What more can I say about Andy Carroll? If he goes to bed at 22:00, he should go to bed at 21:30 now!

"He has to do something, but I am not a medical expert or voodoo – I’m just his manager speaking about that and I know he loves football.

"It’s not the training, because when he trains, he loves football. He’s not one of those who doesn’t try in training. When we play five-a-side, he wants to win and he gives everything.

"Will he start against Man United? I hope he’s going to be fit for Man United. I don’t think Sakho or Song will be fit for that game."

United midfielder and former Hammer Michael Carrick: "We are looking forward to Wednesday now and that has got to be the focus.

"We have got to take what we can from [the Spurs defeat] and move on to a massive game.

"We all know what that means and it is make or break on the night. It is one we can look forward to and hopefully we can come away with the win and get into the next round."

Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney is fit enough to feature on United's bench.

The skipper's return will come as a boost but it will be up to Marcus Rashford to lead the line from the off.

(Ashley Young is also on the bench after a surprise appearance up top against Spurs at the weekend).

Two changes from Slaven Bilic. Darren Randolph and Enner Valencia come in for Adrian and Winston Reid.Andy Carroll, as expected, leads the line. It's going to be a 'long' night for the United defence if his form against Arsenal is anything to go by.

It's also a big night for Louis van Gaal. The Dutchman is under pressure and knows he has to deliver a piece of silverware - or a top four finish - this season.

The 64-year-old is well aware a trip to the Boleyn Ground represents the last chance saloon....

"It is our last chance of a trophy so it is very important for the players, for the club, for the manager and for the fans. Still, we have one day less than West Ham [to prepare] and that is also important," he told the club's official website.

"But we have proved against Arsenal and Manchester City, in spite of having less days to recover, that we could beat them so I hope that we shall recover very well.

"Also mentally, because this is a blow [at White Hart Lane] of course, but everybody knows this is the last chance."
