N'Golo Kante insists Chelsea are aiming to win the quadruple next season but admits they will have to be a lot better than last term to do it.

Chelsea won the Premier League in Antonio Conte's first year in charge having secured a record 30 wins out of 38.

But they were knocked out of the League Cup in the Fourth Round by West Ham and were deservedly beaten by Arsenal in the FA Cup Final to miss out on the 'Double'.

Chelsea are now back in the Champions League after a one-year absence, which will put more of a strain on the squad.

But Kante is optimistic about the campaign ahead, as Chelsea target a trophy haul that would eclipse even Manchester United's treble achievements of 1999.

“Football is like this: after every game you have to do better in the next and the season is the same," he said. "After last season we have to start in the same way and try to do better.

"We are looking to do a better season together and we know at a club like Chelsea a good season means to win titles. So we will try to win some titles. Win, win, win. We will fight for everything.

“We will fight against good teams. So it is going to be difficult. But we will try to win everything we play in."

After Antonio Conte's side went top of the League last November, the only real challenge came for Tottenham. Kante expects a much tougher battle to win the title this time around after seeing their rivals spend big this summer.

Both Manchester clubs have paid over £100m on new signings, Arsenal broke their transfer record to acquire Alexandre Lacazette, while Liverpool also set a new high in buying Mohamed Salah for £39m.

Chelsea have brought in Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Willy Caballero so far, but main goal-scorer Diego Costa is set to leave for Atletico Madrid.

Kante said: “We see what the other clubs are doing. Things will change from last season.

"It’s easy to say who will be in the top six. Anything can happen in the Premier League, but the top six will be a very good fight for the title.”

Chelsea take on Arsenal in Beijing on Saturday just eight weeks after being outplayed by them in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

The club missed out on the chance to win the Double for only the second time in their history as Arsene Wenger's men secured a 2-1 triumph.

But Kante added: “We cannot say it was a bad season. We know it could have been better with a Double. But it was, for us, a good season. Not the best. It could have been better. But it was a good season.

“Arsenal played well, better than us and they deserved the victory. They deserved to win this game.

“The FA Cup final is finished now. It (Saturday) will be just a friendly game. It is important for our preparation.

"The season will really start (when Chelsea face Arsenal again) in the Community Shield (on August 6).

"But we have to take this game seriously because it will help us prepare well for the Community Shield, the first game of the season.”

Saturday's match will also see Kante face France team-mate and Arsenal's new club record signing, Lacazette.

The striker joined Arsenal from Lyon for £52m earlier this month and Kante admits Chelsea's rivals have made a significant signing.

"I know him from the national team and from what he did in the French league," the midfielder said. "He is a very good player.

"He has scored more than 20 goals every season for the last few seasons in Ligue 1. He is a good player and a good addition for Arsenal.

“He’s a goalscorer, clever with the ball and when he has a chance he has a gift for finishing well. He will be a good addition for Arsenal."

Kante was named Player of the Year by the PFA and FWA last season, but won't be resting on his laurels.

"I can always improve," he declared. "Maybe score more goals and more assists, always help the team the best I can.

"Sometimes I can help the team to score, to make the last pass or to get more chances and try to score. Maybe I can do this more often."

Chelsea's match against the Gunners at the Bird's Nest Stadium is believed to be sold out. It is the first of three matches on their pre-season tour of the Far East.

Chelsea will play Bayern Munich on July 25 and Inter Milan on July 29 in Singapore at the National Stadium.Visit www.internationalchampionscup.sg for tickets and more information.
