Rose McGowan is rallying an online army to fight sexual harassment in Hollywood after her Twitter account was suspended.

McGowan was prevented from posting tweets hours after she accused Ben Affleck of being a “liar” and told him to “f*** off” in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations.

McGowan – who is among those who have accused the Hollywood producer of harassment – posted a screenshot of the message she received to her Instagram account.

The warning prevents the Charmed actress from posting tweets or retweeting for 12 hours unless she deletes “tweets that violate our rules”.

She called on other women to ‘be her voice’ during the suspension by kicking off the ‘Rose Army’ hashtag.

She captioned the notification: “TWITTER HAS SUSPENDED ME. THERE ARE POWERFUL FORCES AT WORK. BE MY VOICE. #ROSEARMY.”

It is not clear which of McGowan’s tweets violated the rules.

Fans branded the decision a “joke” and questioned why McGowan can no longer tweet but President Donald Trump can.

McGowan has used Twitter to praise those who have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault and rape.

She also accused Affleck of being a “liar” after he issued a statement to say he had been left “saddened and angry” by the accusations levelled against Weinstein.

In a statement he deemed the Oscar winner’s behaviour “completely unacceptable” and said more efforts need to be taken for “protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters”.

McGowan tweeted: “@benaffleck ‘GODDAMNIT! I TOLD HIM TO STOP DOING THAT’ you said that to my face. The press conf I was made to go to after assault. You lie.”

Affleck has yet to comment on McGowan's tweet.

Weinstein – who has flown to Arizona for therapy after being sacked from his production company – has unequivocally denied all allegations of non-consensual sexual behaviour.
