Love Island star Sophie Gradon has been laid to rest in her hometown of Newcastle two weeks after her death at the age of 32.

The former reality star, who appeared of on the second series of the ITV2 show in 2016, was found dead at her parents’ home last month.

Gradon’s boyfriend Aaron Armstrong paid an emotional tribute to the star on Instagram, saying that he couldn’t “stop crying”.

Alongside an image of the funeral order of service, Armstrong wrote: “I love you with all my heart my beautiful angel...

“I'm absolutely heartbroken I can't stop crying and I can feel your spirit in my soul... RIP Sophie Hannah Gradon.”

Gradon’s parents released a statement about their daughter’s tragic death last week, saying that they were still “coming to terms” with the loss.

“It has been one week since we lost our precious daughter and we as a family are still coming to terms with our sudden loss,” they said in a statement.

“Our hearts are broken. We wish to say our goodbyes to Sophie in private so we ask that you respect our family’s privacy during this arduous time.”

Gradon made Love Island history when she coupled with Katie Salmon for the show’s first ever same-sex pairing.

Katie Salmon, who made history with Sophie after they became the show’s first ever same sex couple, said her “smile will be remembered forever” while Tom Powell, who she was coupled with before Salmon, said she “seemed happy” before her death.
