Liam Payne has refused to ease up his work diary, even though it means he could risk missing out on his son’s milestones.

The former One Direction singer has one-year-old Bear with girlfriend Cheryl.

He said his weeks spent away from home to promote his solo career are to help create a future for his son.

“You realise that you are not working hard to improve things just for yourself, but for them as well,” he told The National.

“I realise I can build something for him to have, as long as I work as hard as I can right this second. So I’ve got to hit the ground running.

“Unfortunately, it’s a risk that I will miss out on certain things. I am aware of that, but it’s important for me that I carry on and make this right for him.”

Payne’s busy schedule was rumoured to be causing tensions in his relationship with Cheryl. The couple were hit by cheating allegations over the weekend after Payne was pictured with a backing dancer in Dubai.

Cheryl slammed the rumours saying she couldn’t “ignore this story” as it dragged “innocent dancer” Chloe – who is engaged – into “this desperate attempt to try and cause problems between Liam and I”.

She later added: “Now.. off on our holiday. And the only thing we’re making are memories. And breaking is our healthy eating. Toodles.”

Her comments come days after Payne admitted their romance hasn’t been smooth sailing, but that the pair are still very much together.

“The funniest thing was a week before we were getting married,” he told ES magazine. “The next week we’re splitting up. And the thing for me is, I just like to think we’re somewhere in the middle.

“You know, we have our struggles – like of course I’m not gonna sit here and say that everything’s absolutely fine and dandy, because of course you go through different things, and that’s what a relationship is.”

He finished: “But we go through them together as a family and that’s the most important thing for me. This part of mine and my missus’s relationship was never not going to happen.”
