Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga shone as they braved the rain in Venice and walked the red carpet for the premiere of A Star Is Born.

The singer, who is back on the big screen in the movie, looked dazzling in a pink feathered dress as she posed for the world’s media at the Venice Film Festival.

She was accompanied by co-star Cooper, wearing a black dinner suit, as they made their way down the famous lido.

Romantic comedy A Star Is Born is Cooper’s directorial debut, with the actor also starring as Jackson Maine who is the love interest of Gaga’s character Ally.

The film, due to be released in cinemas later this year, also stars Dave Chappelle, Sam Elliott and Anthony Ramos.

Earlier on Friday, Gaga gushed over Cooper at the press conference for the film, thanking him for letting her “live her dream” before talking about stripping down for the role.

She said: “I always wanted to be an actress, and there can be 100 people in the room and 99 don't believe in you.

You just need one to believe in you, and that was him. So I'm very lucky to be here.

“Most of the film, I have no makeup on my face. At the beginning of my career, I always liked to transform, to shape-shift and become different characters, that's part of my artwork and part of my music. But Bradley really wanted to see me with nothing.

“I remember when I did the first screen test for A Star Is Born. I walked out of my house, and Bradley was there with a makeup wipe and he wiped it over and said: 'I want no makeup on your face.'

“This vulnerability is something he brought out in me [especially] for someone who doesn't necessarily feel safe to be vulnerable all the time.”

Stars including Cate Blanchett, Clemence Poesy and Spike Lee also attended the premiere on Friday evening.

A Star Is Born heads to Toronto Film Festival after its Venice debut before an October release in cinemas.
