Katie Price has revealed that she is set to run the London Marathon to raise money for a lung charity that supported her mother following her shock IPF diagnosis.

The glamour model said that she was left devastated last year when her mother, Amy, was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a terminal lung condition with no cure.

Since the diagnosis, Price has been committed to raising awareness of the disease.

As part of this campaign, the TV personality has committed to tackling the 26-mile challenge in April to raise money for the British Lung Foundation.

Speaking about the run, the 39-year-old said: “My mum means the world to me and the news of her diagnosis was a huge shock.

“I am proud to be running the London marathon to raise awareness and vital funds for the British Lung Foundation. One in five people in the UK are affected by lung disease and millions more are at risk.

“Running 26 miles may seem like a big challenge, but it is nothing compared to what my mum and others living with IPF and other lung conditions go through every day”.

Price’s mother Amy emphasised that she was “proud” of Price’s active campaign.

She said: “It took far too long for my diagnosis to be confirmed as IPF, in fact it was over five years of going backwards and forwards to different doctors. Awareness of IPF is vital.

“Many people have never heard of the condition until they are diagnosed with it. This needs to change. I am so proud of Katie and her fundraising effort.”

Price previously completed the marathon with then husband Peter Andre in 2009.
