Jack Fincham was left feeling humiliated after his girlfriend Dani Dyer pranked fans by claiming they were engaged.

The Love Island star, who met his girlfriend on the ITV2 contest last summer, confessed that he was “wound up” by the joke as they revisited the moment on the debut episode of their spin-off show, Jack and Dani: Life After Love Island.

The first instalment of the three part series aired on ITVBe last night, and charted the ups and downs of their romance since leaving the villa in July, including the moment when Dyer posted an image of a fake engagement ring to Twitter.

The reality star was standing in for Capital Breakfast show host Vick Hope in October and was encouraged by co-presenter Roman Kemp to play Dani Dyer’s Dares, during which she had to fool her fans into thinking that Fincham had asked her to marry him.

However, Fincham was not in on the joke and told his girlfriend that the stunt had “p***** him off,” explaining that he’d had to field calls from friends and family members who had taken Dyer’s post at face value.

“I was laughing at the time and then afterwards I was thinking, ‘What have I done? Poor Jack,’” Dyer recalled during the programme.

When she asked her boyfriend if he “still hate[ed her] about the engagement thing?” he revealed: “It just wound me up […] Being woken up by everyone ringing me annoyed me.

“You done [sic] it to the nation, every paper had that.”

Despite joking earlier in the show that she’d now “shot herself in the foot” when it came to any possibility of a proposal, 22-year-old Dyer also revealed that she was keen to get engaged within the next two years.

“If we’re still together you know I want to get proposed to when I’m 24 because I want to get married when I’m 25,” she told Fincham, who went on to joke that he struggled to plan “three minutes” ahead.

The spin-off show comes shortly after Dyer and Fincham were forced to shrug off speculation about their relationship towards the end of last year.

The couple briefly split up in December, with Dyer announcing the news in an extended Instagram statement. She deleted the post shortly after and told fans that she and Fincham were still “in love” despite the pressures of conducting a relationship in the public eye.
