Coleen Nolan’s son has said it is not looking good for his mother’s marriage to Ray Fensome.

Shane Richie Jr discussed the couple’s rocky marriage on Loose Women after Nolan broke down on an episode of Channel 5’s In Therapy.

Discussing her emotional appearance he said: “It's never nice seeing a parent cry, especially my mum. She's like my best friend, it's heartbreaking.

“I've seen her cry no more than five times. It's just not nice. I think she hates crying in front of her children. She's never done it in all the break ups, and arguments with Ray.”

When asked by Katie Price if he thinks his mother and Fensome will be able to work things out, he replied: “At the minute it doesn't look great does it. I hope so.”

Speaking about Nolan’s stint on Celebrity Big Brother, he said: “Absence makes the heart grow fonder so let’s wait and see.”

Richie Jr – who recently moved back home with Nolan – said “it’s not been great” and admitted to running to his girlfriend’s house when arguments kick off.

He described Fensome as a “good friend” but said he needs to start opening up if they have any chance of saving their marriage.

Richie Jr also revealed he plans to surprise his mother when she leaves Celebrity Big Brother by revealing that he has changed his surname by deed poll from Richie to Nolan to show his support for her.

His comments come a day after the Loose Women panel voiced their concerns for Nolan's well-being on the reality TV show, which she said she would use as a “trial separation” from Fensome.

Jane Moore said she fears Nolan is too "vulnerable" to participate while Ruth Langsford is worried she won't have anyone to talk to.

Nadia Sawalha said: “The crowds are hungry for blood every night. I’m worried for her because she’s going to get a shock. It’s high pressure and I worry with the stuff that she’s going through at the moment it might magnify it.”
