Comedians Charlie Brooker and Armando Iannucci have called on Twitter to ban Donald Trump from the micro-blogging site.

Brooker said it would be “hilarious” to get the US President’s account deleted over his stance on immigration, which saw him impose a travel ban on refugees and people from Muslim-majority countries.

Twitter condemned the move and tweeted: “Twitter is built by immigrants of all religions. We stand for and with them, always.”

Brooker replied: “Delete his account. It'd be f****** hilarious.”

Iannucci applauded Brooker’s idea and suggested people start a petition to get him kicked off.

He tweeted: “In fact, we could petition Twitter to delete his account since it transgresses their code of conduct.”

Brooker then directed Iannucci’s tweet to Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey.

Fans agreed, with one writing: “Exactly. Do it. Report and block.”

Another joked: “Or edit his messages to say only factually correct things.”

A third called for him to write a Black Mirror episode about Mr Trump on Twitter: “Please do a Black Mirror episode about a fascist with a social media addiction who gets his accounts suspended.”

More than one million people have signed a petition to prevent Mr Trump from travelling to the UK for a state visit following his travel ban.

Up to 18,000 Londoners have pledged to attend a march to Downing Street on Monday evening in protest.
