January gym membership not cutting it? This Grade II-listed six-bedroom house in Bayswater near Hyde Park comes with it's own underground gym and spa complex.

On the market for £21 million with Strutt & Parker, the Victorian-era frontage of this home on Garway Road belies an impressive two-storey basement extension.

London-based architecture studio Newman Zeglmeier completed the the extension project in 2019 with contractors Kaldex Homes.

Southern Windows, who provided the glazing solutions, called it "one of London’s deepest and largest domestic basement projects".

Along with a private home gym, there's a sleek swimming pool (complete with observation windows on the floor below), a separate Jacuzzi plunge pool, and a full sauna set up.

A social media home tour video posted by estate agent Grant James Bates shows off the extent of the £21 million mansion's amenities, soundtracked to 2Pac's 'Ambitionz as a Ridah'.

The basement, which is accessed by lift, offers entertainment rooms with a bar, fridges and wine storage, plus a home cinema.

If the new owner does ever want to go out there is an electric car lift serving the underground garage with room for two cars.

The extension and basement has been finished in a contemporary style, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and floating staircases.

Inside the original house, which dates from the 1850s, is a sleek grey kitchen and multiple reception rooms along with some of the six bedrooms – although there's a separate guest wing and, of course, staff quarters.

The house is also available to rent for £25,000 a week.

Bayswater is seeing several luxury developments in period settings, including the retrofitting of Whiteley's department into over 130 residences.

Planning permission to turn the abandoned Averard Hotel into 11 homes was also approved this week.
