Great British Bake Off’s Nadiya Hussain has landed her own cookery show.

The winner of last year’s baking show, who recently made the Queen’s 90th birthday cake, will front a new two-part travel food programme for the BBC.

Hussain, whose cake for the Queen got mixed reviews when it was unveiled last week, will travel to Bangladesh to trace her culinary roots.

Titled The Chronicles of Nadiya, the programme will start out in the baker’s home town of Luton and chronicle the heritage of her family.

The Bake Off winner will cook her favourite dishes as well as learning new recipes along the way and trying them from scratch.

The BBC’s head of documentaries, Patrick Holland, said: “Nadiya’s story on Bake Off touched the hearts of the nation.

“We are delighted that she will be using her cooking skills to take us on a journey to such an extraordinary and changing land.”

While Hussain has proved to be one of the most popular winners of the smash hit BBC show, the cake she made for the Queen was met with a mixed reaction from viewers.

Although the Queen seemed suitably impressed, some people took to Twitter to complain that it was ‘wonky’.
