Crisp-loving Laura from Channel 4’s First Dates takes on our Walkers taste-test challenge – video

The UK’s #1 cheese ball enthusiast talks dating tips, the perfect cup of tea, and Doritos Roulette

Anyone who’s been watching Channel 4’s brilliant dating reality series First Dates will have witnessed one of the greatest TV moments of the year so far.

Midway through her blind date, 39 year-old Laura from Kent engaged Matt from Leicester in the most gloriously unhinged – and unashamedly enthusiastic – conversation about the nation’s favourite crunchy potato snack: crisps.

“I love a cheese ball,” Laura divulged, before asking Matt the big question: “Do you like cheese balls?”

In a conversation that also saw the pair cackling over a discussion of their favourite Walkers crisps, Laura immediately became an internet hit, even though her night with Matt didn't lead to a second date.

Now, we thought it only right to bring Laura back to the screen for a grand crisp-tasting event – as Walkers launch their ‘Bring Them Back’ campaign to revive classic flavours, we challenged Laura to see if she could guess them by taste only.

Did Laura prove her credentials as the UK’s #1 crisp lover? Watch the challenge to find out.

Along the way, Laura also revealed the only crisps she doesn’t like – the ultra-spicy Doritos Roulette, which she said are “horrifying”.

“I bought them to snuggle down with Netflix and my pug, because I lead a very sad lonely life. I ate some, that was fine, ate this horrible one – dear lord Jesus,” she recalled. “It was agonising, I needed to grab for the paracetamol!”

She also spoke about the other jaw-dropping part of her First Dates interview – the moment she revealed she blow-dries her nether-regions before a date, “so it’s dry, and it won’t smell”.

As much as it was probably a bit of an over-share, Laura has no regrets.

“I don’t regret anything that I do,” she said. “It’s a great tip! My eldest daughter does it.”

Leibo also revealed her lengthy ritual for making the perfect cup of tea – during her date, she claimed that the ability to make a good cuppa is one of the biggest attributes she looks for in a man.

In short, she likes it strong. Really, really strong. Two-extra-strong-teabags-in-a-small-mug strong. Oh, and don’t forget that the mug has to be ‘bone china’.

Laura, on behalf of crisp fans everywhere, we salute you.
